The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a global organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. With over 400,000 members in more than 160 countries, IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization. It serves as a platform for professionals and students alike to collaborate, innovate, and share knowledge in various fields of engineering, computer science, and related disciplines.
In our college, the IEEE chapter within the Electronics and Telecommunication department has been actively involved in organizing workshops, seminars, and hands-on sessions that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Our members are committed to fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and community service, making IEEE a cornerstone of our academic and professional journey.
ASIANCON 2022: Advancing Innovation at PCCOER, Pune
On August 26-27, 2022, the Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering & Research (PCCOER) in Pune hosted the 2nd Asian Conference on Innovation in Technology (ASIANCON 2022), a key event for exploring advancements in engineering and technology. Sponsored by the IEEE Bombay Section, the conference attracted over 750 participants, including research scholars, professors, and scientists from around the globe.
Keynote speeches from experts like Dr. B. Satyanarayana and Dr. Ahmed Hassan EL-Tonoby highlighted cutting-edge topics such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and robotics. The event also featured paper presentations across a wide range of subjects, from Biomedical Engineering to Wireless Communications.
ASIANCON 2022 provided a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, with all accepted papers set to be submitted to IEEE Xplore for potential SCOPUS indexing, ensuring broad dissemination and impact. This event underscores PCCOER's commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in the field of technology.
HACKTOBERFEST 2022: IoT Innovation at PCCOER
Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering & Research (PCCOER), Pune, hosted HACKTOBERFEST 2022 on October 12th, 17th, and 18th, 2022, organized by the E&TC Engineering Department in collaboration with IEEE Young Professionals Bombay Section.
This event introduced 80 SE & TE E&TC students to IoT and Arduino through hands-on sessions. Led by experts from Alhansat Technologies, students learned to identify electronic components, simulate projects using Arduino, and build their own IoT projects. The event also highlighted career opportunities in IoT, providing students with practical skills and insights into this growing field.
GoGreen Event: Leading the Way in Sustainable Electronics
Under the guidance of our esteemed faculty and in collaboration with the IEEE department, our students organized the GoGreen event, a unique initiative focused on promoting sustainability in the field of electronics and telecommunication. The event aimed to raise awareness about the environmental impact of electronic waste and encouraged the adoption of green practices in the industry.
The GoGreen event featured a series of workshops, panel discussions, and hands-on activities that educated participants on topics such as e-waste management, energy-efficient circuit design, and the use of renewable energy sources in electronics. The event was a resounding success, with students and faculty alike gaining valuable insights into the intersection of technology and sustainability.
Vijayalaxmi Kumbhar Hosts Capacity Building Workshop for E&TC Students
From August 21 to 24 and on August 29, 2023, PCCOER, Pune, organized a Capacity Building Workshop for Second-Year E&TC students. The workshop, led by experts, covered essential skills like leadership, teamwork, communication, and data science. Over five days, 65 students engaged in sessions on self-talk, stress management, public speaking, data visualization, and interview techniques. The event successfully equipped students with vital soft and technical skills to prepare them for future challenges.
Grant Spotlight: IEEE Epoxy Solar Camp
The IEEE Epoxy Solar Camp, launched in August 2021, provided 200 students with hands-on experience in solar energy, aiming to raise awareness of environmental challenges and promote STEM-related solutions to climate change. Over six days, participants, including students, parents, teachers, and volunteers, learned about the design, construction, and operation of epoxy solar panels, applying these concepts to projects like robotics and solar-powered electronics. The camp emphasized the technical, commercial, and ethical aspects of solar energy, inspiring students to pursue sustainable technology and make a positive impact on future generations. The program was funded by the IEEE Pre-University STEM Portal Grant Program.
IEEE Quarter 3 Seminar: A Hub for Knowledge Exchange
To round off our quarter, the IEEE department organized a seminar that brought together students, faculty, and industry experts to discuss the latest trends and developments in electronics and telecommunication. The IEEE Quarter 3 Seminar covered a wide range of topics, including the future of 5G technology, advancements in semiconductor devices, and the role of artificial intelligence in telecommunications.
The seminar provided a platform for attendees to engage in thought-provoking discussions, share their research, and network with professionals in the field. The event was a testament to the collaborative and interdisciplinary nature of IEEE, fostering an environment where knowledge is freely exchanged, and innovation thrives.
